David “Dave” Allen Zaretzke of Lake Stevens, WA – devoted husband, parent, and grandparent – passed away on June 29, 2026 at age 66 from cancer treatment complications. He was born in Seattle, WA on May 8, 1960 to Ronald Dale and Carol Jean Zaretzke. He lived in Western Washington his whole life, finding his dream home on 20 acres, complete with a log house in Lake Stevens. David loved the outdoors, wildlife, motorcycles, trips to Hawaii, cooking and eating. He believed in Sasquatches and his personal library included seven books on the subject. One of David’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandson, Joshua. They enjoyed nature walks, deep conversations about animals, wrestling, riding bicycles, sleepovers, pancake breakfasts and being silly. David met his wife Susan in 1985. Their first date was at the Puyallup Fair and they were inseparable from that point on. David was a true partner, married to the love of his life for 36 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Dale Zaretzke. He is survived by his wife, Susan Kay Zaretzke; his son, Bradley Allen Carson (Kelli); his grandson Joshua Allen Carson; his mother Carol Jean Zaretzke; brother Mark Zaretzke (Vicky); and brother Steven Zaretzke. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seattle Humane Society in his memory.
