Joshua Allen Bouma
11/03/2003 – 10/23/2024
With deepest sorrow we announce that Joshua Allen Bouma, our beloved son and brother, passed away on October 23, 2024. Joshua was sent to his eternal home due to a motorcycle accident when an oncoming motorist turned into Joshua's path.
Joshua was the youngest child of 3 born in Everett, Washington and is survived by his older Sister Bobbie, Brother-In-Law Daniel Camplejohn, Sister Calie, his Father Calvin Bouma Jr., Stepmother Sandi Klammer-Bouma, Mother Susan Shannon, Grandparents Calvin Sr., and Barbara Bouma, and Robert and Yolanda Shannon, friends, aunts, uncles, many cousins, and girlfriend Amelia and family.
Joshua spent most of his life in the Seattle area but treasured family vacations to visit grandparents in Michigan and the Dominican Republic, as well as his own travels to San Francisco and San Diego, where he taught himself to surf.
Josh started talking early and his first word was “SEE?”, asking if he could SEE the pictures or videos any time someone was using a camera. Even as a toddler, Joshua understood the camera was capturing memories and this started a lifelong interest in photography.
Joshua was fascinated by electronics, music, and machines. As a child, he would solder circuits with his grandfather’s direction over the phone and taught himself to fly 737 airplanes on a flight simulator, clocking over 1,000 hours of flight time. In High School, his interest in electronics won him a National Technology award for designing and building an electronic railroad switch in a timed competition. He was an excellent backyard mechanic and could repair any car or truck, spending hours working into the night with a headlamp to get the job done.
Joshua learned to play the clarinet at school and taught himself to play the piano, guitar, and double bass. He formed a band in junior high and spent hours writing and composing music with friends Mason, Alex, and others through junior high and high school. He was named Best Percussionist in 2014 for his school marching band.
Josh loved dogs, swimming in lakes and the ocean, photography, bicycling, skateboarding, and Arizona Tea. He was a smart and crafty young man. Josh graduated from Cascade High School in 2022 with Honors and was attending Edmonds College. He had been meeting with a US Air Force recruiter and was considering a career as a Pilot, or Marine Engineer.
Joshua was outgoing with quick witted humor. He had an open heart and mind for other people’s views, made friends easily and valued his friendships immensely.
We were all looking forward to the exciting and promising options Joshua had been planning for his future. His untimely and sudden passing has left a deep void in all our lives, but we are taking comfort in knowing that he has moved back into God’s eternal care.
The many memories Joshua has left us will forever keep him alive in our hearts and we remain eternally grateful for the time we had with him here on the earth and are comforted knowing we will be reunited in the future. Joshua will be greatly missed.
The family will be conducting a small celebration of life in memory of Joshua in the new year. We ask simply that you remember Joshua for the impact he had on your life.
