Obituary

Mariah Maracle, a vibrant soul born "Sally Ann Somers" on July 31, 1932, in the town of Snoqualmie Falls, WA, left this world on September 27, 2026. Mariah's life was a tapestry of spiritualism, art, curiosity, and compassion, woven together by her unwavering spirit and generous heart.

The daughter of Ernest Washington Somers and Laura Marguerite (Brant) Somers, Mariah was predeceased by her beloved parents of Sequim, WA, her youngest son, Damian Bennett of Lynnwood, WA, and her daughter-in-law, Janet Bennett of Oceanside, CA. She is survived by her sister, Janet Bailey of Bothell, WA, and her three remaining children: Brant (the late Janet) Bennett of Oceanside, CA, Kateri Mahoney of Marysville, WA, and Aleah (David) Cronk of Brighton, CO. Her legacy also lives on through her 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Sally attended elementary school in Snoqualmie Falls. Her middle school education took place in Snoq. Falls, Sweet Home, OR, on the boat to Alaska, and in Sitka, AK, where she graduated high school in 1950. Next, Sally briefly attended the University of Washington in Seattle, and later nurtured her lifelong passion for learning through further studies in art at community college.

In 1953, Sally embarked on a journey of service by enlisting in the US Navy. She honorably served at Annapolis, MD, and Tongue Point, OR, and her rank at discharge in 1957 was HM3-Hospital Corpsman Third Class. This military service helped shape her life, marking a period of dedication and resilience.

Sally was a lovely ballroom dancer. In a dance studio in OR, she met Robert Bennett and they were married from 1957-1978. During those 21 years they called a great many places home in CA, OR, WA, & AK, as they raised their four children.

Sometime after 1978, Sally changed her name to Mariah, which she felt more suited her vivacious spirit. Having been a homemaker and raising children much of her adult life, she now explored various vocations before finding her calling in home healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her work was more than a profession; it was an important part of her compassion and care for others.

An artist at heart, Mariah found joy in painting, capturing the beauty she saw in the world around her. She also had a deep affinity for nature, collecting stones and crystals, meditation, and feeding the birds and bees. She loved silk and linen on her skin, wicker furniture in her home, and bright colors in her surroundings, reflecting her appreciation for life's simple treasures.

Mariah was a great listener and loved to laugh at your adventures, often delighting in living vicariously through others. She was a blessing to those around her, always eager to share her knowledge of health and spirituality. Her advice was given with love, always with the intent to uplift and support.

Mariah Maracle's presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy of generosity, wisdom, and grace will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. A private ceremony will be held in her memory, honoring her life and the profound impact she had on those who knew her.
