Myrtle Josephine Borseth Bishop

August 18, 1924 — April 20, 2025

Myrtle Bishop, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died on April 20, 2025. Myrtle was the daughter of Olaf and Petra Borseth and was born August 18, 1924 in South Bend, WA. When she was five years old, the family moved to Chehalis, WA where she graduated from Chehalis High School.

In 1945 she married Robert (Bob) Bishop. The family lived for many years in Seattle, WA where Myrtle worked as a legal secretary. Following retirement Myrtle and her husband enjoyed RV travelling throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska. They established a permanent residence in Mesa, AZ in 1999, where they enjoyed hiking, dancing, tennis, friends and church. They were active members of Sunland Village Tennis Club and New Vision Center in Scottsdale.

Myrtle was preceded in death by Bob Bishop, her husband of 62 years. She is survived by her three children: Wayne (Vickie), Ross (Shirley), and Dennis (Cyd), her four grandchildren: Brad (Emerald), Lance (Liz), Rachel, and Scott (Clair) and her six great grandchildren: Axel, Evie, Beau, Runa, Olivia, and Elodie. Myrtle’s two sisters, Alida Russell and Audrey McGuire, and Myrtle’s two brothers, Palmer and John Borseth preceded her in death.

Myrtle loved her family and friends. She enjoyed travelling, dancing, dining out, hiking, tennis, family parties, playing pinochle, bridge and games of all kinds. For many years she was an active member and volunteer at the Church of Religious Science (Center for Spiritual Living) in Seattle and Tacoma, and New Vision Center in Scottsdale, AZ. She took many classes and received a Practitioner’s License in 1989. At the time of her death, she was a member of Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church.

One of Myrtle’s favorite memories was playing the piano for family parties and especially the keyboard at the Bishop Family Reunions (Sons of Bishops).

At her request there will be no funeral or memorial services. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
